Joseph Nitti

WHO IS THIS GUY
JOE NITTI

Who is this guy Joe Nitti who's mastery of rhythms has made him a big hit favorite at the L & L Cafe?
Well, Joe is one of Chicago's veteran bandleaders. He first organized a crew of eleven music makers way back in 1921 and played his way around at weddings, small clubs, etc. His first major engagement was a the old Cinderella ballroom and has gone a long way since. He can look back on radio programs (such as over WMAQ) and at bookings covering some of Chicago's leading spots, the Embassy hotel for one.
Joe studied music in Italy and is a master of such instruments as the drums (which he plays at the L & L), and the mandolin and xylophone. He is happily married to an Italian girl ("Her name is Stephanie and she is the most beautiful woman in all the world") and has four children: Angela, 16; Anthony, 13; Leroy, 10; and Marie, 3. Joe says of his present job "Dan Lardas and Mike Ellis are two of the best bosses I ever had and I am indeed happy to be playing here at the L & L.
